TIS has a four-tier membership structure.
1. Full members-Government subsidised Victorian TAFEs that are in the VTAC guide. CSP funded Victorian universities that are in the VTAC guide and Charles Sturt University.
2. Associate members-government service agencies eg: Centrelink
3. Non-member (independent)-independent Tertiary colleges in the VTAC guide
4. Non-member (interstate)-interstate universities, TAFEs and Independent Tertiary Colleges.
TIS is run by the full members only. All Victorian TAFEs and universities are automatically members of the general committee. It meets once a month from February to October each year. There is a TIS executive, which is made up of five members from the general committee. There is a president, treasurer, minute secretary and contact list convenor. The TIS executive meets once a month, prior to a general meeting. Overseeing the running of TIS is the Management committee, which is made up of the Marketing/Student Recruitment managers from each institution. They meet at least twice a year. The TIS president attends the management meetings.
TIS has developed a program which takes 90 minutes. The program involves a
40-50 minute presentation and a 40-50 minute supermarket. TIS runs approximately 45 information days and 120 sessions each year. TIS is held right through out Victoria, beginning with the Western District in April and ending with North West Metropolitan in August. During that time TIS representative drive thousands of miles and will speak to 70-75% of year 12 students. The TIS presentation is a work in progress and is written with consultation from careers teachers and is constantly changing to meet specific client group needs.
