About Us
TIS HAS OPERATED IN VICTORIA SINCE 1977
Its members work closely with the state’s career practitioners to promote further education as an option for secondary students when they leave school. Each year the TIS Executive Committee seeks and reviews feedback from attending schools to ensure the TIS presentation continues to meet the needs of final year secondary students looking to prepare for their future careers.
TIS ALSO HAS STRONG TIES TO NAPSA
The National Association of Prospective Student Advisers (NAPSA) is the professional body representing tertiary institute recruitment staff. Staff are encouraged to access information and resources to assist in their professional development and education.
TIS HAS A THREE-TIER ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE
TIER 1
Comprising government subsidised Victorian TAFEs and Commonwealth funded Victorian universities listed in the VTAC guide and Charles Sturt University.
TIER 2
Government subsidised Victorian TAFEs attending less than five events per year.
TIER 3
Independent Tertiary Colleges (ITCs) participating in the Victorian Tertiary Admissions application and selection process in the current year, as well as interstate universities.
TIS IS RUN BY ITS TIER 1 & 2 INSTITUTIONS ONLY
All Victorian TAFEs and Universities are automatically members of the general committee. There is also a TIS Executive, which is made up of five members from the general committee and includes a president, treasurer and secretary working alongside the TIS Executive Officer. The TIS Executive meets once a month, prior to a general meeting. Overseeing the running of TIS is a management committee, which is made up of the Marketing/Student Recruitment managers from each university.
All Tier 1 & 2 institutions are invited to all TIS events. Tier 3 members must be invited by the Event Co-ordinator after consultation with the schools attending.
